(Sept. 27) – The American League West Division Champion Texas Rangers recently announced that the Major League Baseball club has appointed Katherine (Katie) Pothier as executive vice president and general counsel.
Pothier, who served in the same role with the San Diego Padres from 2002-2010, will be responsible for the Rangers’ Legal, Human Resources and Risk Management business areas. She will also work with the franchise’s baseball and business operations.
As the lead lawyer for the Padres, Pothier helped the team move into PETCO Park in 2004 and transition to a new ownership group. Pothier has spent the last six years as a partner at the San Diego law firm Wilson Turner Kosmo.
“The Rangers are very happy to add Katie Pothier to our executive group,” Rangers’ Co-Chairman Ray Davis said in a statement. “Her extensive experience, including her background in Major League Baseball, will be very valuable to many facets of this organization.”
