Houston healthcare attorney Ryan Revisore, who was the legal counsel and chief compliance officer at Principle Health Systems, joined Munsch Hardt this week.
Revisore, who started his career at a healthcare boutique, said his interest in returning to a firm environment gradually increased throughout the pandemic because of his near-daily interactions with outside counsel. Munsch Hardt’s recruitment of healthcare attorneys Stuart Miller and Daniel Sternthal from Baker Donelson last September moved the needle for him.
“I was impressed with what they told me about the firm, its commitment to building a health care practice and Munsch Hardt’s reputation in the community as a firm that provides best in class services to middle market clients,” Revisore said.
Revisore was a solo general counsel at Principle, though he trained a few engineers to be his support staff. He said his main focus was on the creation and reorganization of the Houston-based diagnostic company’s corporate structures, while allowing the organization to optimize new and existing revenue streams.
“The willingness of the company to lean into a constantly evolving market, enabled me to focus on managing processes and procedures to ensure compliance in a fast-moving environment,” he said. “I learned a lot in a very short period of time.”
Two issues facing the healthcare industry, particularly smaller companies, are concerns about an overregulated environment and a “seemly constant” downward trend in reimbursements, says Revisore.
“Despite the pandemic last year, it was a major accomplishment for Munsch Hardt to recruit shareholders Eddy De Los Santos, Stuart Miller and Daniel Sternthal, and associate Brad Cook, away from Baker Donelson. Then as we entered this year, we were fortunate to land Bill Swart, formerly with Perkins Coie,” Munsch Hardt CEO Phil Appenzeller said in a statement. “Ryan helps us continue to bolster this [healthcare] practice, and brings the unique in-house perspective that is often valued by our clients.”
While many firms hit pause on their lateral hiring efforts in 2020, Munsch Hardt was one of the most active firms, adding 17 new attorneys.
