Norton Rose Fulbright Mints Eight Texas Partners

January 2, 2019 Brooks Igo

Norton Rose Fulbright has promoted 46 attorneys to partner around the world, including eight in Texas, the firm announced on Wednesday.

Brandon Byrne represents clients in capital markets and M&A transactions, including public and private securities offerings, mergers, stock and asset transactions, and private equity and venture capital investments. The Dallas attorney received his law degree in 2008 from the University of Texas.

Jorge Gutierrez focuses his practice in Dallas on energy transactions for exploration and production and pipeline companies. The 2007 Baylor Law graduate handles the acquisition and divestiture of oil and gas assets, joint ventures in connection with the development of such assets and other transactions.

James V. Leito IV is in the firm’s financial institutions and insurance group in Dallas, where he represents clients in complex commercial disputes and significant injury, death and property-damage claims. Before joining Norton Rose Fulbright, the 2009 Texas Tech School of Law graduate clerked for Justices Scott Brister and Eva Guzman at the Texas Supreme Court and later for Senior District Judge Royal Furgeson at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.

Benjamin Ratliff focuses exclusively on corporate finance matters, specializing in commercial lending transactions including syndicated and single-bank credit facilities, asset-based lending, energy financing and sponsor-backed acquisition financing. The Dallas lawyer received his law degree from SMU in 2009.

Jamila Mensah, a 2006 graduate of the University of Texas School of Law, is in the firm’s employment and labor practice in Houston. She is an expert on discrimination, retaliation and wage and hour issues and counsels employers on hiring, termination, disability accommodation and drafting of personnel policies.

Daniel Prati offices in Houston and concentrates his intellectual property practice on patent disputes. The former oil services project engineer has represented clients in the fields of electronics, telecommunications, computer software, biomedical devices, optics and semiconductors.

Eliot Turner works in the firm’s antitrust disputes group and represents clients in defending and prosecuting claims under Sections 1 and 2 of the Sherman Act; Section 7 of the Clayton Act; and state antitrust laws. The Houston attorney received his law degree from UT in 2008.

Stephanie Leibe concentrates her practice in Austin on public finance transactions, including bond, bank, and underwriter’s counsel in tax and revenue-supported financings. Prior to joining Norton Rose Fulbright, Leibe served for nearly 13 years as an assistant attorney general with the public finance division of the Texas Attorney General’s Office, where she eventually became chief of the public finance division.
