By Brooks Igo – (Aug. 4) – Norton Rose Fulbright recently appointed Texas partners Richard Krumholz and Daryl Lansdale to lead two U.S. practice groups that oversee about 80 percent of the firm’s approximately 800 U.S. lawyers.

Krumholz will lead the firm’s dispute resolution and litigation group, while Lansdale takes over the business law group. They succeed Otway Denny and Tom Hughes, respectively. Jim Repass in Houston remains the head of the U.S. IP practice.

Both lawyers emphasized the importance of Norton Rose Fulbright’s global network and the need to further integrate the firm’s practices.

“We look to continue to increase and maximize our business opportunities, both locally and internationally, as we continue to integrate and operate as a global legal practice, with deep roots in Texas,” said Lansdale, a SMU Dedman School of Law graduate. “Leading corporations seeking worldwide coverage are giving us even greater consideration because of our global reach and deep industry knowledge.”

Krumholz said he is seeing an increased demand for efficiency and early case evaluation in litigation matters, as clients want to be in a position to avoid prolonged litigation that can distract businesses from their core objectives.

“Our goal is to bring our litigation and dispute resolution talent, technology and global, industry-centric experience to each matter we handle and every client we service,” said Krumholz, a University of Texas School of Law graduate. “Firms that are able to provide the highest quality advocates, and innovative and efficient resources and strategies, are at a competitive advantage.”

Lansdale – who represents companies in the energy, life sciences and information technology industries – said he continues to see an uptick in M&A and capital markets activity across industries, but especially in the energy sector.

“We are working on numerous IPOs, debt financings and M&A transactions, and I believe this increased deal activity will continue through the end of the year,” he said.

Prior to assuming their new leadership roles, Krumholz and Lansdale were partners-in-charge of the firm’s Dallas and San Antonio offices, respectively. Life sciences litigator Jon Skidmore succeeds Krumholz in Dallas, while litigator Mike O’Donnell succeeds Lansdale in San Antonio.
