(June 22) – King & Spalding’s hiring spree in Texas continued this week when seasoned transactional oil and gas lawyer Peter Hays joined the firm’s Houston office.
A former partner at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, Hayes represents companies and entrepreneurs in upstream, midstream and downstream transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and project development.
Hays clerked for U.S. District Court Chief Judge Hayden Head of the Southern District of Texas. He is board certified in oil, gas and mineral law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Hays received his B.A. and J.D. from the University of Texas at Austin.
King & Spalding has added nine partners through lateral hiring in Texas during the past six months. The Atlanta-founded law firm has more than 110 lawyers in Texas – 85 of them in Houston.
“Pete’s lengthy deal sheet is a testament to his skills, experience, creativity and reputation in the global upstream sector,” said Tracie Renfroe, head of the firm’s energy practice and the Houston office managing partner. “We are excited to introduce Pete to our domestic and international energy clients and to share our enhanced range and depth of transactional expertise.”
