Shearman Adds Austin Litigator from Norton Rose Fulbright

August 2, 2021 Brooks Igo

Shearman & Sterling has recruited Austin litigator Saul Perloff, the firm announced on Monday.

Perloff was previously at Norton Rose Fulbright, where he was head of the advertising practice. The former JAG officer advises pharmaceutical, food, device, consumer product and biotechnology clients on false advertising, unfair competition and other commercial matters.

“Saul’s addition demonstrates our continued commitment to the Texas market and strengthens our U.S. commercial disputes and intellectual property offering.” David Beveridge, senior partner at Shearman & Sterling, said in a statement.  “His appointment is part of the continued execution of the firm’s strategy to build our core practice areas in key geographies, strengthening our business mix.”

Perloff is Shearman’s third lateral partner addition in Texas in 2021. The firm recruited capital markets partner Emily Leitch and finance partner Daniel Tristan from Jones Day and Baker Botts, respectively, earlier this year.

But the firm has also seen two Austin-based corporate partners, Matt Lyons and Brian Dillavou, leave for Wilson Sonsini. Lyons helped launch Shearman’s Austin office and entrance into Texas in 2018.
