(March 3) – Sidley Austin announced this week that two senior finance partners from Baker Botts have joined the firm’s Dallas office.
Alison Boren and William Howell have extensive experience in capital markets transactions, financing transactions and restructurings, mergers and acquisitions and private equity and securities matters.
Howell said Sidley’s depth across a number of industries and the firm’s focus on Dallas were key factors in deciding to lateral.
“The Dallas office is in rapid growth mode and has attracted a team of entrepreneurial and talented attorneys,” he said.
Howell led the more than $400 million initial public offering of Hunt Utility Service’s real estate investment trust, InfraREIT Inc., last year. He says it is hard to predict IPO activity for 2016 until the turbulence in the capital markets stabilizes.
Yvette Ostolaza, managing partner of Sidley’s Dallas office, said the firm received interest from a number of corporate groups, but Boren and Howell were a great fit because of their clients and experience.
“We are still looking to expand our corporate practice in Dallas,” she said.
Sidley’s Dallas office has more than 60 lawyers. The firm is moving into new office space in Uptown in September.
