Simpson Thacher & Bartlett announced Wednesday that they have hired longtime projects partner Fern Han from White & Case for their Houston office.
As she did for more than 14 years at White & Case, Han will focus on credit and financing for large-scale projects, energy and infrastructure and other banking and credit matters.

“Fern’s extensive experience in project, energy and infrastructure finance will greatly benefit our clients, and we are pleased to welcome her to Simpson Thacher,” said Brian Steinhardt, Co-Head of Simpson’s global banking and credit practice.
“Fern’s addition marks the latest step in the growth of our Houston office, which now has more than 85 lawyers who provide best-in-class transactional advice, and is a destination for clients focusing on energy and infrastructure projects, among other matters,” said Matt Einbinder, co-managing partner of Simpson Thacher’s Houston office.
Han’s client portfolio has included construction, back leverage, mezzanine and tax equity financings for such major infrastructure developers as EnCap Investments, Saudi Aramco, Arroyo Investors and Société Générale, a lender for the consortium developing offshore infrastructure for the deepwater Shenandoah Project in the Gulf of Mexico.
Said Han: “Simpson Thacher’s Banking and Credit and Energy and Infrastructure platforms are second-to-none and will provide me with the opportunity to serve my clients at the highest level. I’m very excited to join the team.”
Han’s education includes a law degree from BPP Law School in the U.K., and an LLB. from the London School of Economics. She is admitted to practice in Texas, New York and England and Wales.
