(Feb. 22) – South Texas College of Law recently announced that two second-year law students won the top prize at the 45th Annual William B. Spong National Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition in Williamsburg, Virginia last week.
Lani Durio and Hayley Hervieux’s title is the law school’s 121st national advocacy championship. The duo, competing in their first varsity advocacy competition, went undefeated through all rounds of the two-day competition and also won the Best Brief Award.
Jessica Sykora and Jaqualine McMillan, associates in the Houston office of Norton Rose Fulbright, and Taylor FitzGerrell of Serpe, Jones, Andrews, Callender and Bell, coached Durio and Hervieux.
T. Gerald Treece, South Texas Advocacy Program director and associate dean, and Rob Galloway, associate director of the Advocacy Program, also helped with the students’ training.
