Spencer Fane said this week that Houston labor and employment lawyer Merritt Chastain has joined the firm as a partner.
Chastain was previously at Ogletree Deakins, where he practiced for seven years. The South Texas College of Law graduate is also an alum of Gardere and Vinson & Elkins.
According to his LinkedIn bio, one of Chastain’s sub-specialties is assisting management clients with Occupational Safety & Health Administration investigations, employee accidents and deaths and OSHA litigation. He has also litigated several class action employment-related cases under ERISA, the WARN Act, the FLSA and Title VII. Non-compete and trade secret litigation is another significant part of his practice.
The Kansas City-based law firm also announced that it has added real estate associate Jackie Wilhite from Shackelford to the Houston office, which opened in 2019 via a merger with Zimmerman, Axelrad, Stern & Wise.
