State Bar Announces New Chief Disciplinary Counsel

January 21, 2019 Brooks Igo

The State Bar of Texas Board of Directors voted unanimously on Friday to confirm the Commission for Lawyer Discipline’s selection of a new chief disciplinary counsel.

Seana Willing, who has been the executive director of the Texas Ethics Commission, will replace Linda Acevedo, who is retiring after more than three decades of service to the State Bar, as the top disciplinarian of Texas attorneys.

Before taking her leadership post at the Texas Ethics Commission, Willing was executive director of the State Commission on Judicial Conduct for 14 years.

“We believe that Ms. Willing’s demonstrated commitment to service and to ethics in government and the legal profession make her an excellent choice to lead us in our mission to serve the Texas attorney community and the public,” Noelle Reed, chair of the Commission for Lawyer Discipline, said in a statement.

Willing will oversee close to 100 full-time employees, including 37 lawyers, 12 investigators, 32 legal support staff, 12 administrative support staff and four administrative managers.
