Texas Bar Foundation Honors Baylor Law School Professors

May 21, 2013 Mark Curriden

Baylor Law School professors Ron Beal, Patricia Wilson and Bridget Fuselier have been elected to membership in the Fellows of the Texas Bar Foundation. Fellows are selected for their professional achievements and demonstrated commitment to the improvement of the justice system throughout Texas.

Beal, who joined the Baylor Law School faculty in 1983, has developed an expertise in Texas administrative law. He has authored numerous law review articles that have been cited as authoritative by the Texas judiciary.

Prior to joining Baylor Law School in 1993, Wilson practiced law for seven years, including four with American Airlines, Inc., where she litigated matters worth millions of dollars, negotiated and drafted contracts and handled matters involving airline regulation and employment discrimination. She teaches courses in employment discrimination, employment relations, labor law and family law and serves as the minority law student advisor.

Fuselier, a 1998 graduate of Baylor Law School, joined the faculty in 2006 after leaving private practice at Beaumont-based Mehaffy Weber, PC, where she was a shareholder. She teaches property courses, Texas land practice and advanced trial advocacy skills and serves as the faculty sponsor for Baylor Law’s Public Interest Society.

Each year, the number of State Bar members invited to become Fellows represents just one-third of 1 percent of membership. Once nominees are selected, they must be elected by the Texas Bar Foundation Board of Trustees. Membership has grown from an initial 254 charter Fellows in 1965 to more than 7,500 Fellows throughout Texas today.

The Texas Bar Foundation is the largest charitably funded bar foundation in the country. To date, the foundation has distributed more than $14 million throughout Texas to assist nonprofit organizations with a wide range of justice-related programs and services.
