Veteran securities agency staff attorney Clinton Edgar has been appointed the new deputy commissioner of the Texas State Securities Board.
The five-member state securities board approved the appointment of Edgar, who has worked at the agency for seven years, on Nov. 14.
A 2008 graduate of Texas Tech University School of Law, Edgar started at the state’s Securities Board as a staff attorney in the Inspections and Compliance Division in 2010. He prepared and prosecuted cases of misconduct involving registered dealers, agents, and investment advisers in Texas.
The board promoted Edgar, who received a degree in finance from Baylor University in 2005, to director of the Registration Division in 2016.
“Clint has a wealth of experience that will continue to help the State Securities Board fulfill its mission of protecting investors,” state Securities Commissioner Travis J. Iles said in a written statement. “As an attorney and director of registration, he has played a key role in ensuring that securities firms comply with the law and agency regulations.”
