By Brooks Igo – (Aug. 15) – After more than 15 years at The Lanier Law Firm, Eugene Egdorf has been promoted to be the managing attorney of commercial litigation for the Houston office, the firm recently announced. In addition to overseeing the firm’s commercial litigation cases, he will continue efforts to expand the firm’s national presence in sports and entertainment litigation.
Egdorf, a University of Texas School of Law graduate, has been involved in a number of high profile cases. Earlier this year, he spearheaded the firm’s role on the Plaintiff’s Steering Committee in the Toyota “sudden acceleration” litigation, which led to a $1.2 billion class-action settlement, the largest ever for a carmaker in the United States.
In May, he helped achieve a $40 million settlement with EA Sports and the Collegiate Licensing Company over the unauthorized use of the names and likenesses of thousands of current and former NCAA student-athletes.
He is currently coordinating the firm’s litigation against General Motors over faulty ignition switches.
