(February 25) — Dallas-based Thompson & Knight promoted seven attorneys to partner, including five in Texas, the firm announced yesterday. The new Texas partners are in the firm’s Dallas and Austin offices.
Three of the newly promoted partners are in the Dallas office. They are Benjamin Herd, Jeremiah Mayfield and Micah Prude.
Herd, a SMU Dedman School of Law graduate, focuses his practice on real estate and banking matters. He has represented CMBS lenders in hundreds of loan origination transactions, as well as whole loan sales, syndications, and “b-note” purchases/sales.
Mayfield, a University of Oklahoma College of Law graduate, focuses his practice on public and private securities offerings, public and private mergers and acquisitions, SEC reporting and general securities compliance, and general corporate, partnership, limited liability company and contract matters.
Prude, a University of Texas School of Law graduate, focuses his practice on sensitive and complex matters involving employee management, counseling, and discipline; personnel policies and manuals; non-competition, non-solicitation, and confidentiality agreements; and compliance with state and federal anti-discrimination laws.
The other two newly promoted Texas partners are in the firm’s Austin office. They are Christopher Smith and John Vacalis.
Smith, a University of Texas School of Law graduate, focuses his practice on environmental enforcement and administrative litigation. He has particular expertise in wetlands enforcement actions under § 404 of the Federal Clean Water Act (CWA), Endangered Species Act (ESA) enforcement actions, Texas and Federal Clean Air Act (CAA) enforcement cases and citizen suits, and property and groundwater contamination litigation.
Vacalis, a Syracuse University College of Law graduate, focuses his practice on mortgage banking and commercial litigation matters, including Low-Income Housing Tax Credit development and financing, loan servicing, wrongful foreclosures, construction, DTPA claims, employment, federal takings actions, tort and contract.
