(Feb. 17) – Two Dallas lawyers were recently honored by the Dallas Business Journal at a special ceremony at the Omni Hotel for being among the winners of the 2015 Minority Business Leader Award.

Greenberg Traurig shareholder Victor Vital and Scheef & Stone member Rebekah Steely Brooker were the only practicing lawyers selected of the 20 business leaders recognized.

Vital said he is honored to be recognized along with “such remarkable leaders in Dallas.

“As a trial lawyer, I’m glad to serve not only the legal profession but to provide leadership at my firm and to serve the broader business, civic and charitable communities in Dallas,” said Vital, who has tried more than 100 cases in his career.

Brooker, who focuses her practice on estate planning and probate matters, agrees that it is a tremendous honor.

“When I step back, it is a bit overwhelming to receive such recognition just over 100 years after my great-grandmother moved from India to Trinidad as an indentured servant,” she said. “This recognition is a testament to my parents and grandparents who want each generation to do better than the last.”
