Unseated Dallas DA Joins Litigation Firm

February 28, 2019 Brooks Igo

Faith Johnson, who lost the Dallas County District Attorney’s election in November to John Creuzot, is entering private practice at Stanton LLP as a partner, the Dallas litigation firm announced on Wednesday.

Johnson, a Republican, was appointed to the Dallas District Attorney’s Office in 2016 by Gov. Greg Abbott to complete Susan Hawk’s term after her resignation.

“Faith Johnson served Dallas County well during her time as district attorney,” Creuzot said of his predecessor in a statement.

“The office was set-up for success under her leadership, easing the transition process.”

Johnson began her career as a criminal prosecutor for Dallas County and became the first African-American woman elected as a criminal district judge in Texas. After serving 17 years as a judge, she was appointed in 2014 to the Texas Public Safety Commission, where she oversaw homeland security, border patrol and anti-terrorism efforts in the state.

“Faith Johnson is a leader in the community, an advocate in the courtroom, and will be an asset to our clients,” James M. Stanton, also a former Dallas County judge and the founder of Stanton LLP, said in a statement.

“There are few who match Judge Johnson when it comes to passion for the people she represents.”
