By Natalie Posgate – (October 3) – Addison-based Daseke Inc. on Friday announced that it is acquiring Fort Worth-based and privately held Lone Star Transportation for an undisclosed amount.
A primarily Dallas-based team of Vinson & Elkins handled the deal for Daske, with partner Chris Schmitt and associate Thomas Laughlin as the lead attorneys. They received assistance from partner Alan Bogdanow and associates Doug Smith and Jeremy Pettit on the M&A matters.
The finance matters were led by Valinda Wolfert, who received assistance from associates Sean McClure and Matt Armendariz. More V&E attorneys on the deal included tax partner David Peck; executive compensation and benefits partner Shane Tucker; labor partner Vanessa Griffith; associates Julia Pashin, Dario Mendoza, Rochelle Thomas, Jenn Cooley and Jordan Rodriguez; litigation partner Amy Riella (based in Washington, D.C.); and Houston environmental counsel Larry Pechacek.
Previously, V&E has represented Daseke acquisitions, including Oregon-based Central Oregon Truck Company; J. Grady Randolph Inc., which created one of the 20 largest flatbed and specialty carriers in North America; and Boyd Bros Transportation, which created one of the largest opendeck/specialty fleets in North America.
A Dallas team of Gardere Wynne Sewell lawyers led by corporate Larry Glasgow represented Lone Star in the deal, and others involved included partners Richard Waggoner and Mike Donohue and associates Adam Hull and Lamar Dowling.
Daseke’s acquisition of Lone Star now allows it to offer more than 2,500 tractors and nearly 5,550 open-deck trailers to their trucking industry customers.
