May Lyn Yuen, an antitrust partner, has joined Vinson & Elkins in Brussels from Hogan Lovells. She will focus her practice on multijurisdictional transactions, merger control strategy and complex competition matters, according to a news release. Her arrival coincides with the launch of Vinson & Elkins’ Brussels office, the firm’s first in continental Europe.
Before joining V&E, Yuen was based in Brussels as a partner in Hogan Lovells’ antitrust and competition practice, where she advised clients on global merger control strategies, cartel matters, antitrust investigations and EU Foreign Subsidies regulation investigations. Before relocating to Belgium more than a decade ago, she practiced in London. Yuen is registered as an EU lawyer with the Brussels Bar and is admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales.
V&E said the Brussels office places the firm at the center of European competition enforcement, the European Commission, one of the world’s most influential antitrust regulators. The firm said the new office will support its cross boarder investigations and transactional practices as well as work closely with its London office.
“Competition and regulatory scrutiny are increasingly global and complex, especially for companies operating across multiple jurisdictions,” Yuen said. “This is an exciting opportunity to help build the firms European presence form Brussels in collaboration with Vinson & Elkins well-established London office. I look forward to developing a transatlantic antitrust platform that reflects the firm’s excellence and ambition.”
