(June 8) – Dallas-based Vistra Energy General Counsel Stephanie Zapata Moore chose one of her top lieutenants and lawyers at the Alabama law firm Balch & Bingham to lead its purchase of the Upton County Solar 2 development project in West Texas.

Vistra Managing Counsel Tiffany Silvey is handling the energy company’s acquisition of Upton 2. The purchase agreement by Vistra, which is the parent company of Luminant and TXU Energy, includes a separate turnkey, fixed-price, engineering, procurement and construction contract to deliver the 180-megawatt solar plant in the summer of 2018.

Silvey, who has been in the corporate legal department at Luminant since April 2006 and is a 1998 graduate of the Texas A&M School of Law, turned to Balch & Bingham partner Chris Still and attorney Jesse Unkenholz to advise on the transaction.

Vistra states that the purchase of Upton 2 delivers on the company’s strategic plan to further strengthen and expand its integrated businesses through enhanced retail solar offerings and diversity across its generation fleet.
