(April 9) – Editor’s Note: Here is a letter sent today from Winstead Managing Partner Kevin Sullivan to the firm’s lawyers and staff congratulating the firm on its 40-year anniversary.

This is a noteworthy day for our law firm.

On April 9, 1973, Pete Winstead, Chuck McGuire and Bill Sechrest opened Winstead McGuire & Sechrest, a small business law firm with a big dream of creating an environment that fostered teamwork, focused on community, and promoted collective achievement and personal growth. Over the years, names changed, leadership transformed, and the number of clients, offices and personnel steadily grew as Winstead became one of the largest law firms in Texas.

Today, Winstead has nine offices, over 300 attorneys and we are stronger than ever. We are a young law firm, comparatively speaking, and we have collectively accomplished much to be proud of in just 40 years. We have expanded in key markets in and out of Texas, and built strong client and community relationships.

Whether you’ve been here a short time or many years, you are a part of what makes Winstead a great firm and a great place to work. I am proud to be here with you.

In honor of our 40 years as a law firm, we are launching the Winstead40 celebration today. Winstead40 will include contests, community giving, a Winstead Wire series of articles looking back as well as forward, and a Winstead40 homepage section on www.winstead.com.

This celebration is collaborative. Your participation and involvement in Winstead40 will contribute to a fun and informative way for us to recognize the many reasons why Winstead is proud to be 40.

Happy birthday Winstead!
