Winston & Strawn announced Tuesday that Dallas commercial litigator Jervonne Newsome lateraled to the firm.
Newsome was previously at Lynn Pinker Hurst & Schwegmann, where she made partner in January and practiced for seven years. She said she continues to have “high respect” for Lynn Pinker, but Winston & Strawn’s full-service capabilities and national presence are value-adds for her clients.
“The Winston Dallas office is noteworthy for their trial experience and success,” she added.
Newsome represents Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, corporate officers and individuals in commercial litigation matters such as breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, business torts, employment law, noncompete disputes and intellectual property, including trade secrets and trademark and patent infringement. At Lynn Pinker, she worked closely with Michael Hurst, Eric Pinker and Mike Lynn.
One area that has become a focus for Newsome is labor and employment litigation related to diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. She has been working with clients on how to better protect these efforts from legal risk.
A graduate of the University of Arkansas School of Law, Newsome clerked for the Hon. Bobby E. Shepherd of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and the Hon. Denzil Price Marshall Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas prior to entering private practice at Lynn Pinker.
“Jervonne is part of the next generation of talented Texas trial lawyers,” Tom Melsheimer, managing partner of Winston & Strawn’s Dallas office, said in a statement. “As Winston & Strawn continues to grow our trial practice in Dallas and throughout Texas, Jervonne will be a key player in that effort.”
