(Aug. 1) – Winston & Strawn recently announced that the Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA) has honored the firm with the 2016 George B. Vashon Innovator Award in recognition of its Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI).
Houston litigation partner Paula Hinton, chair of Winston’s WLI, accepted the award on behalf of the firm. Winston has received Innovator Awards from the MCCA in 2011 and 2012 for LGBT initiatives and the firm’s mentoring program, respectively.
Leaders from Winston’s diversity committee say the development of a new parental leave policy, the provision of leadership training for women partners and the creation of an Advancement Subcommittee significantly contributed to the firm winning the award.
WGL Holdings, Inc., and Washington Gas – a natural gas utility company based in Washington, D.C. – received the other Innovator Award this year.
