(Sept. 29) – Winston & Strawn Houston partner Melanie Gray has been named the honorary chair of the United Negro College Fund’s 29th Annual Gala on Nov. 18.
More than 500 people are expected to attend. Last year, the gala raised more than $500,000 for scholarships and operational support for UNCF-member institutions in Texas.
“Hurricane Harvey has made this a difficult time for Houston,” Gray said in a statement. “Now it is even more important to ensure that crucial support systems like the United Negro College Fund remain strong and vibrant.”
Gray was recognized by the Houston Chronicle as a “Houston Hero” last year for her community service.
