(April 22) – Di Wang from the University of Houston Law Center (UH), Katy Leung from the University of Texas School of Law (UT) and Devanshi Somaya from SMU’s Dedman School of Law are the three recipients of the 2014 Winstead Juris Doctorate Scholarships, the firm announced late last week.

The six-year-old scholarship program benefits first-year minority law students at the three aforementioned law schools. In addition to a cash prize, winners of the scholarship are offered a position in Winstead’s Summer Associate Program.

Winstead also awards a $1,500 grant to each recipient’s student interest group of choice. Wang selected the Asian Law Students Association at UH, Leung chose the Asian Law Students Association at UT and Somaya designated the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association at SMU.

The firm will recognize Wang, Leung and Somaya at three separate receptions hosted in its Dallas, Houston and Austin offices this week.
