While minimal financial details have been released, the PGA Tour and the Saudi-backed LIV Golf announced Tuesday that they have reached a tentative deal to merge.
The agreement was reached as the two professional golfing entities battled it out on antitrust grounds in multiple jurisdictions.
The litigation team for LIV has a distinctively Texas angle.
Rob Walters, a recently retired partner in the Dallas office of Gibson Dunn, is leading the litigation for LIV. Walters also represented AT&T in its antitrust trial against the U.S. Department of Justice over the Time-Warner acquisition.
Other Gibson Dunn lawyers in Texas involved in representing LIV are Russ Falconer, Scott Hvidt, Sophie Rohnke, Pat Vickery, Ryan Mak, Jason Muehlhoff and J.D. Rimann.
In addition, John Bash, the partner-in-charge of Quinn Emanuel’s Austin office, is also part of the LIV litigation team.
