Simpson Thacher & Bartlett announced Monday that Katy Lukaszewski joined the firm’s Houston office as a partner in the energy and infrastructure practice.
The M&A attorney is coming from Sidley Austin, where she spent 11-plus years, working her way up to partner in 2020. The UT Law grad previously was at Cox Smith Matthews as an associate.

Lukaszewski represents companies and private equity sponsors across a variety of corporate transactions, including mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures, with a focus on upstream oil and gas and consumer products.
Last year, she co-led the deal team (with Irving Rotter) counseling Neste Corp. on establishing a 50/50 joint venture with Marathon Petroleum that will produce renewable diesel after a conversion project of Marathon’s refinery in Martinez, Calif. Neste’s planned investment: about $1 billion.
And this past April, she advised Japanese trading house Mitsui & Co. Ltd. on acquiring a 92 percent working interest in an unconventional gas asset in South Texas from Silver Hill Energy Partners’ Silver Hill Eagle Ford E&P for undisclosed terms. Mitsui already holds a 16.6 percent stake in the Cameron LNG facility in Hackberry, La.
Lukaszewski also counseled the Hero Mighty Patch brand on its sale to Church & Dwight Co. Inc. this past September for $630 million.
Her past clients have also included private equity firm Kimmeridge Energy.

David Lieberman, managing partner of the Houston office, said the Bayou City office has a reputation for its energy and infrastructure expertise and transactional counsel and counts Lukaszewski as a “rising M&A star.”
