McGuireWoods is expanding its offerings in Texas with the addition of former federal prosecutors Michael Elliott and Mindy Sauter, the firm said Wednesday.
Dallas lawyers Elliott and Sauter, along with counsel Chris Quinlan, will “anchor” McGuireWoods’ government investigations and white-collar litigation practice in Texas. For the last seven years, Elliott and Sauter have been running their own firm, Elliott Sauter PLLC.
The trio specializes in healthcare regulatory and compliance issues. They have advised healthcare providers, hospitals, durable medical equipment suppliers, pharmacies and other healthcare industry clients, and defended executives and corporations in white-collar criminal matters.
Elliott served as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Northern and Southern Districts of Texas from 2008 to 2015. During his tenure, he was the criminal healthcare fraud coordinator and lead attorney for the Medicaid Fraud Strike Force in North Texas. He received his law degree from the University of Miami.
Sauter, who earned her law degree from SMU Dedman School of Law, was an assistant U.S. attorney from 2011 to 2015 in the Northern District of Texas and is also a former assistant district attorney for Dallas County. She has conducted hundreds of trials and oversaw complex prosecutions, including cases of home health and hospice fraud, multijurisdictional FDA investigations, and durable medical equipment and pharmaceutical cases.
