Jacqui Bogucki, a highly regarded transactional lawyer specializing in infrastructure deals, has left Simpson Thacher for Weil, Gotshal & Manges in Houston.
The firm is announcing the move this morning. Actually, it’s a return; Bogucki worked at Weil between 2014 and 2018 before leaving for Simpson Thacher.
She’s the fifth partner to lateral to Weil’s expanding Houston office in the past year. She’ll be adding to Weil’s growing M&A infrastructure practice.
“I am so pleased to have the opportunity to return to Weil, where I began my legal career,” said Bogucki. “It is an incredibly exciting time to be joining the firm as it further builds out its infrastructure and energy transition capabilities. I look forward to reconnecting with former colleagues and leveraging my experience to provide the highest quality service to our clients.”
“Jacqui will be an extremely valuable addition to our growing Houston team,” said Weil executive partner Barry Wolf. “Her significant infrastructure experience – including in the digital sector – and strong relationships with leading investment professionals will help to advance our fast-growing infrastructure and energy transition capabilities, and will be an immediate value-add to our clients globally.”
In 2023 at Simpson she led deals for BlackRock in its $500 million acquisition of Canadian solar energy provider Recurrent Energy, for GI Partners in its acquisition of Rise Broadband and for Bluepeak, another broadband provider, in its acquisition by Ares Management.
“Jacqui is a highly regarded colleague and we are delighted that she is returning to Weil. She will be a tremendous addition to our Houston office,” said Michael Aiello, chairman of Weil’s global Corporate Department. “Her dedication to top-tier client service and collegial approach will make her an immediate fit for our team.”
“We couldn’t be happier to have Jacqui rejoining the Firm at this pivotal time for our growing infrastructure and energy transition teams,” said Christopher Machera, co-head of Weil’s U.S. Private Equity practice. “Our clients continue to make significant investments in these areas, and Jacqui’s market knowledge and experience will be significant resources in meeting their complex strategic business needs across these sectors. Where our clients invest, we invest. And when we invest, we do it with lawyers of Jacqui’s caliber.”
Since April 2023, notable energy partners Omar Samji, Chris Bennett, Cody Carper, and Irina Tsveklova have joined Weil in Houston – with Steven Lorch joining in New York just last month.
“We are very excited to welcome Jacqui back to the Firm and to our growing Houston team,” said Gabriel Morgan, managing partner of Weil’s Houston office. “Her significant experience in infrastructure and energy transition will give us key advantages as we further expand the expertise we offer to clients.”
A graduate of SMU’s Dedman School of Law, Bogucki advises private equity sponsors and strategic clients on a wide range of corporate transactions, with a particular focus on the infrastructure, digital, technology, energy transition, and oil and gas sectors. She provides sophisticated, commercial advice to clients on public and private mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, investment transactions, joint ventures, corporate governance and general corporate matters.
