Austin patent litigator Nadia Haghighatian has departed Kirkland & Ellis to join Winstead as a shareholder, according to her LinkedIn.
Haghighatian handles patent disputes involving software, telecommunications, electrical, mechanical, and semiconductor technologies and litigation related to trademarks, trade secrets, and unfair competition.
Last year Haghighatian received the Graduate of the Last Decade Award from the Texas Tech Law Alumni Association. After obtaining her law degree in 2013, she started her career at Thompson & Knight, where she practiced until 2022.
With the move to Winstead, she joins an intellectual property litigation team she overlapped with at TK including Phillip Philbin, Jamie McDole and Michael Karson.
Haghighatian is a leader in the LGBTQ+ bar, having spearheaded affinity group initiatives and served on the board of directors for the Dallas LGBT+ Bar Association, Dallas Bar Association, Dallas Association of Young Lawyers, and LGBTQ+ Law Section of the State Bar of Texas.
In addition to her private practice, Haghighatian has litigated high-stakes asylum and prisoner’s rights cases pro bono.
Earlier this week, Winstead announced the addition of a real estate transactions partner from Fried Frank.
