Akin Bolsters Investment Management Team in Dallas

September 24, 2024 Brooks Igo

Akin announced Tuesday that it has strengthened its investment management practice with the addition of Dallas partner Shannon Thompson from Kirkland & Ellis.

Thompson represents private equity and other alternative asset managers in fund formation, fundraising, governance, organizational structure, internal operations, and regulatory matters and compliance.

“I am thrilled to join Akin and its premier investment management team,” Thompson said in a statement. “The firm’s platform advising private equity and alternative asset managers, along with complementary practices such as projects and energy transition make this the ideal setting for my practice.”

Thompson received her law degree in 2012 from Columbia. She began her career at Greenberg Traurig in New York; moved to Chicago to join Sidley, where she practiced for almost a decade; and made it to Dallas via Kirkland in June 2023.
