Foley Expands Dallas Construction Bench with Addition from Gray Reed

The move strengthens Foley’s construction and manufacturing capabilities in North Texas.

John Paul “J.P.” Vogel, a construction partner, has joined Foley & Lardner in Dallas from Gray Reed. He will focus on construction transactions and disputes involving complex commercial and industrial projects, according to a news release.

Before joining Foley, Vogel spent nearly 11 years at Gray Reed in Dallas, where he advised owners, developers, contractors and manufacturers on contract negotiation, risk allocation and construction-related disputes. He began his legal career at Gray Reed.

“Foley’s national platform and deep industry experience in construction and manufacturing present a tremendous opportunity to expand the services I provide to clients in Texas and beyond,” Vogel said in the release.

Foley is ranked among the largest firms operating in Texas by both headcount and revenue in The Texas Lawbook 50. In 2024, the Texas revenue of Foley was at $167.8 million which placed the firm at No. 20 in the Lawbook 50 rankings. In terms of headcount, Foley ranks No. 24 in the Lawbook 50 with 142.6 lawyers in 2024.

AREAS OF FOCUS
Vogel advises contractors, developers, manufacturers and private companies in construction contract drafting and negotiation, project risk management and dispute resolution. He has experience handling matters involving payment disputes, lien claims, defect allegations and change-order conflicts across a range of commercial and industrial projects.
