Houston litigator Michael Murphy has joined boutique law firm Yetter Coleman as a partner.
“This was an exciting opportunity for me to join a well-respected trial boutique that’s focused on energy,” Murphy told The Texas Lawbook.
Murphy is among several lawyers who have left Winston & Strawn recently after its decision to merge with Taylor Wessing UK. None of the lawyers have cited the merger as the reason for their departure. Murphy was with Winston & Strawn for six years, where he served as co-chair of the firm’s Houston litigation practice.
His first day with Yetter Coleman was April 1. He said his first day has been “fantastic.”
“I’m excited to be part of the firm’s expansion. I’m excited about continuing to serve my clients from a very strong platform within the commercial litigation and trial bench. So I’m just very excited about the capabilities that we have and the team of partners and associates that I have now,” Murphy said.
Murphy focuses his practice on complex commercial disputes and a broad range of disputes affecting energy clients.
“Michael is one of Houston’s top litigators with an impressive national client base who will complement and expand the depth of our work,” Tracy LeRoy, one of the firm’s managing partners, said in a news release. “He is an important addition to as we continue to build our team of fearless litigators who relentlessly will protect our clients’ interests for years to come. Murphy earned his law degree from Harvard Law School in 2005 and his undergraduate degree in political science and government from Duke University in 2002.
