Richard Potomac, a financial services of counsel, has joined Squire Patton Boggs in Dallas from JPMorgan Chase. He will focus his practice on advising financial institutions and fintech companies on regulatory, transactional and compliance matters, including payments law and technology transactions, according to a news release.
Before joining Squire Patton Boggs, Potomac served as vice president and assistant general counsel for the payments business from Sept. 2021 until last month at JPMorgan Chase, where he supported payments operations, negotiated complex agreements and advised on data protection, electronic payments and third-party risk. He previously served for more than four years from 2013 to 2017 as a senior attorney at the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, advising on regulatory, licensing and enforcement matters and contributing to the agency’s responsible financial innovation initiative. He also practiced at Norton Rose Fulbright for more than three years, counseling financial institutions on mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings and regulatory engagements.

Squire Patton Boggs has been expanding its financial services capabilities in Texas in recent years, particularly as Dallas continues to attract financial institutions and fintech companies.
