Two new federal judges with connections to The Valley will be taking the bench in Texas soon, after the Senate Judiciary Committee gave approval to President Donald Trump’s nominees for the roles in the Southern District of Texas.

John George Edward Marck, the current acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Texas, and Arthur Roberts “Rob” Jones, an executive assistant U.S. attorney in the district, will both sit in McAllen.
“John Marck and Rob Jones have distinguished records of holding dangerous criminals accountable and enforcing the laws on the books to keep Americans safe and our southern border secure,” Sen. John Cornyn said in a news release issued Thursday. “I was proud to recommend these astute Texans to President Trump, and I look forward to seeing them serve on the federal bench.”
Marck earned his law degree from St. John’s University School of Law in 2013. Jones earned his law degree from Georgetown University in 1994.

Marck has previously served as an assistant district attorney in New York City, an assistant U.S. attorney in Corpus Christi and Victoria. He has worked as a prosecutor on national security and public corruption matters and has previously held titles in the Southern District of Texas of associate deputy criminal chief and first assistant U.S. attorney.
Jones started his legal career as a judge advocate and officer in the U.S. Air Force, where he stayed until 2002. He has been an assistant U.S. attorney in Laredo and a member of a task force focused on organized crime and drug enforcement based in Houston.
