Sheppard Adds Longtime Corporate Lawyer in Dallas

September 3, 2026 Jason Philyaw

Heather Bethancourt has joined the corporate practice group of Sheppard in Dallas after more than 11 years at McDermott Will & Schulte.

Sheppard said the lawyers provide sophisticated transactional counsel to clients in private equity, healthcare and transatlantic deals. Bethancourt advises healthcare systems, carriers and vendors negotiating outsourcing and commercial transactions, Sheppard said in a news release. She also represents clients in AI and other technology licensing, technology service agreements, technology development, cloud-computing transactions and strategic alliances.

“Joining Sheppard’s reputable presence in Dallas represents an opportunity to bolster my existing practice on a platform that is highly regarded among healthcare clients due to its client-centered approach,” Bethancourt said in the release. “I look forward to collaborating with my colleagues across the firm to continue to build a technology and outsourcing practice that helps clients navigate increasingly complex strategic relationships.”

Bethancourt started her law career at Jones Day and also worked at K&L Gates in Dallas before joining McDermott Will & Schulte in June 2015.

Sheppard had 92 Texas lawyers last year, according to the Lawbook 50, an increase of 16.5 percent from 2024. Those lawyers produced $119.6 million in revenue in 2025, an increase of 24.6 percent from the previous year.
