Connecticut law firm Shipman & Goodwin announced on Tuesday it is the latest firm to join the Texas party with two restructuring attorneys from Ferguson Braswell Fraser Kubasta.
Dallas lawyers Rachael Smiley and Megan Clontz will open the office, the firm’s first location outside of the Northeast.
“Their arrival allows us to better serve clients in one of the country’s most active markets for restructuring and insolvency work, while extending our national footprint in a way that stays true to who we are as a firm,” Shipman managing partner Leander Dolphin said in a statement.
Smiley, who joins as partner-in-charge of the office, said in the announcement that she knows the firm as co-counsel and as a referral source. “I am honored to join this nationally renowned practice and to have the opportunity to work with fantastic lawyers I have immense respect for,” she said.
In addition to five offices in Connecticut, Shipman & Goodwin has outposts in New York and Boston.
