GT Adds Debt Financing Shareholder in Dallas

September 21, 2026 Jason Philyaw

Shan A. Khan has joined Greenberg Traurig as a shareholder in Dallas after more than eight years at Kirkland & Ellis.

Khan represents private equity sponsors, private credit funds, financial institutions, and public and private companies in complex financing transactions, Greenberg Traurig said in a news release. He focuses on debt financing transactions for public and private companies, private funds, financial institutions, and alternative lenders.

In late April, The Lawbook’s CDT Roundup reported that Khan was part of a team that advised a London investment manager on the sale of stake in a Denver-based hyperscaler to Blackstone.

Greenberg Traurig Executive Chairman Richard A. Rosenbaum said Khan’s “sophisticated finance practice and broad transactional experience make him an excellent addition to our Texas platform and our global capabilities.” The firm said Khan has experience in the energy, infrastructure, technology, manufacturing, health care, hospitality and life sciences sectors, advising on deals with an aggregate value of more than $75 billion in the past decade.

“Our clients are looking for counsel who can navigate increasingly complicated financing and transactional challenges,” said Arleen A. Nand, co-chair of the global finance practice Khan is joining. “Shan is a highly collaborative lawyer whose practice complements many of our existing strengths. His versatile skill set will broaden the services we provide across the market, and we look forward to working closely with him as we continue to deepen our syndicated finance capabilities.”

Khan started his legal career as a summer associate with Vinson & Elkins and spent a few years with Ansar Law Firm in New York before rejoining V&E in Dallas in October 2015.

Khan holds a bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at Austin and earned a JD from from Columbia Law School. He also has a master’s in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations from Harvard University.
