In Camp Mystic Bankruptcy Hearing Friday, Judge Lopez Will Hear Arguments for Chapter 7 Conversion, Trustee Appointment

In the Camp Mystic Chapter 11 bankruptcy, which involves 725 acres along the Guadalupe River that represent a family’s longtime ministry and its generational wealth, things have gotten, perhaps predictably, personal. 

On July 4, 2025, flash flooding along the Guadalupe River killed more than 130 people in Kerr County, including 25 campers, two counselors and the director at Camp Mystic. The Eastlands, who operate the camp the family founded in 1926, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in June. In court filings, the Eastlands valued their assets at about $25 million.
