Norton Rose Fulbright Elects Linda Addison as US Managing Partner

(June 10) – Linda Addison, the daughter of two Holocaust survivors, became the first woman to be named managing partner of Norton Rose Fulbright’s U.S. operations. A trial lawyer who splits her time between Houston and New York, Addison once climbed Mount Kilimanjaro. She replaces Dallas lawyer Ken Stewart.


Baker Botts Advises Chesapeake in Oilfield Services Spin Off

(June 10) – Chesapeake turned to Baker Botts partner and capital markets expert Hillary Holmes to leads its legal efforts to spin off its oilfield services operations, Seventy Seven Energy. David Treadwell, the current chief counsel at Chesapeake, will be the new GC at Seventy Seven Energy, which will have a value of $2.2 billion.

HOUSTON (June 4) – Joe Ahmad and John Zavitsanos started their law firm in 1993 with no clients, no revenues and no savings. Their office was a rickety old building that leaked every time it rained. Now, in the age of litigation boutiques, AZA is a law firm of preference for GCs at Plains All American, National Oilwell Varco and Apache who want to take their business disputes to trial.

(June 11) – It was a “Thank God it’s Friday” moment indeed last week for TGI Friday’s Inc. and its lawyers. On June 3, a Dallas jury ruled in favor of the Carrollton-based company regarding a bitter joint venture dispute that the restaurant chain was involved in with one of the three other partners at the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
