(June 20) – Securities litigation and professional malpractice expert Karl Dial joined DLA Piper’s Dallas office as a partner, the firm announced recently.

Dial, who joins DLA Piper after more than 20 years at Norton Rose Fulbright, says he hopes to help his new firm become a major player in his practice area.

“DLA has a need for a trial attorney with professional malpractice expertise,” said Dial, who is also a CPA. “There are a number of audit malpractice client needs.”

The new DLA Piper partner is currently representing the former chief accountant of Guaranty Financial Group in a securities fraud class action lawsuit filed by the North Port Firefighters’ Pension (North Port Firefighters’ Pension v. Temple-Inland, Inc.). The case was dismissed by a Dallas district court and is now at the Fifth Circuit.

The University of Texas School of Law graduate has also tried trade secrets and intellectual property cases and handles arbitrations.
