By Brooks Igo – (October 8) – The Association of Women Attorneys in Houston recently named five Texas attorneys its “Women at the Pinnacle of the Legal Profession.”

The winners include U.S. District Judge Lee Rosenthal, Gardere Chair Holland O’Neil, Gibbs & Bruns partner Kathy Patrick, Laura Arnold of the Laura & John Arnold Foundation and DLA Piper partner Claudia Frost.

They will be honored at the AWA’s Premier Women in Law Gala on March 25, 2015, at the Hyatt Regency Houston-Downtown.

Rosenthal was appointed to the Southern District of Texas bench in 1992 by George H. W. Bush. She currently serves on the American Law Insitute’s Executive Committee as an adviser on special projects.

O’Neil, a bankruptcy expert, was elected chair of Gardere’s Board of Directors in June 2013, making her the 225-lawyer firm’s first women leader. She also serves on the firm’s Compensation Committee, Lateral Hiring Committee and Women’s Council.

Patrick focuses her practice on securities law, creditor recovery litigation and institutional investor litigation. She has represented clients such as Huntsman Corporation, PIMCO and the former outside directors of Enron Corporation and the State of Arizona.

Arnold is a former corporate attorney and oil company executive in Houston.

Frost is co-chair of DLA Piper’s patent litigation practice. Her trial experience has been predominantly in the areas of intellectual property, oil and gas, products liability and health care.

Six female law students from the three law schools in Houston – South Texas College of Law, Thurgood Marshall College of Law and the University of Houston Law Center – will also receive scholarships from the AWA Foundation at the gala.
