Former Statoil Lead Legal Counsel Carl von Merz Jumps to Kelly Hart

(Nov. 11) – Kelly Hart & Hallman announced this month that corporate attorney Carl von Merz has joined the firm’s Austin office as a partner.

Von Merz focuses his practice on transactions involving the acquisition or divestment of oil and gas properties and the formation of partnerships, limited liability companies or other entities for energy-related investments. He has advised on cross-border transactions in Mexico, Colombia and Brazil.

Prior to joining Kelly Hart, von Merz served as lead legal counsel in the Houston and Austin offices of Statoil, a Norwegian multinational energy company. In that role, he advised on the company’s day-to-day operations in the Bakken, Eagle Ford and Marcellus shale plays.
