(Feb. 4) – Alston & Bird announced this week that it made a splash in Dallas by luring a five-lawyer corporate team from Bracewell.
The new corporate team is led by partners Sanford “Sandy” Brown, who was the former head of Bracewell’s Dallas financial services practice, and Michael Tankersley. They are joined by counsel Patrick Hanchey and Kristen Cunningham and associate Lauren Chase.
The press release issued by the Atlanta-based firm says more associates are expected to join.
“Dallas is a significant market for us and our clients, and we are excited to add these new lawyers to our growing Dallas office,” Darren Hauck, partner in charge of Alston & Bird’s Dallas office, said in a statement. “Leveraging their experience will be a critical part of our growth strategy for banking and finance work in Dallas and the rest of Texas.”
Brown and Tankersley, who spent more than 30 years together as partners at Bracewell, have recently represented Veritex Holdings, Inc. on its $40 million IPO and Texas Capital Bancshares, Inc. and its subsidiary Texas Capital Bank N.A. in common stock and debt offerings with proceeds totaling $287 million.
This is the second significant corporate lateral team hire Alston & Bird has made in Dallas. Last year, the firm added eight finance lawyers, including four partners, from Andrews Kurth.
