(May 19) – The Texas Access to Justice Foundation (TAJF) recently announced an endowment fund for veterans named in honor of legendary trial lawyer Joe Jamail.
The Joe Jamail Endowment for Veteran Legal Services will ensure that Texas veterans have access to the free legal help they need to successfully integrate back into civilian life and secure the rights and benefits for which they risked their lives, according to the press release.
Legal issues account for five of the top 10 unmet needs of homeless veterans, according to the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Houston trial lawyer Richard Mithoff created the fund.
“Joe Jamail was one of our greatest trial lawyers. But before he was a lawyer, he was a Marine,” Mithoff said in a statement.
