By Natalie Posgate – (October 9) – Houston-based Windy Cove Energy LLC has received a commitment from New York energy private equity firm, Blackstone Energy Partners and affiliates to invest up to $700 million.
Texas lawyers from Vinson & Elkins and Kirkland & Ellis are involved in the deal.
V&E represents Windy Cove, with New York partner Caroline Blitzer Phillips as the lead attorney. Also assisting are Houston and Dallas partners David Peck and Sean Becker, Houston associate Stephen Jacobson and New York associates Julia Tong and Carson Sieving.
Houston corporate partners Andrew Calder and Amber Meek of Kirkland lead the deal for Blackstone, and are receiving assistance from Houston corporate associate Lauren Dies, New York executive compensation partner Scott Price and Chicago tax partner Thomas Evans.
The equity commitment will allow Windy Cove to acquire and develop CO2 Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) assets in the U.S.
