(April 20) – The St. Mary’s University School of Law recently announced that a moot court team from the law school won the American Bar Association National Appellate Advocacy Competition in Chicago this month.
The St. Mary’s Law External Advocacy Program (EAP) moot court team included third-year law student Stephanie De Sola, third-year law student Leah Wise and second-year law student William “Billy” Calve. They were coached by Ricky Poole, a St. Mary’s Law graduate and solo attorney in San Antonio.
De Sola was also recognized by the tournament’s judges as the third-best brief writer in the nation.
The ABA moot court championship is De Sola and Calve’s second win this month. On April 1, they helped the law school secure its third straight victory at the Federal Bar Association Thurgood A. Marshall Memorial Moot Court Tournament in Washington, D.C.
