(Sept. 4) – White & Case has recruited tax expert Chad McCormick to its Houston office, the New York law firm announced on Tuesday.
McCormick lateraled over from Kirkland & Ellis, where he led the firm’s tax practice in Houston. He advises clients on federal income taxation, with an emphasis on the tax issues related to domestic and cross-border mergers, acquisitions and separations in the energy sector.
“I’m an energy tax lawyer and White & Case has always been very prominent in this space, particularly internationally,” he says of the move. “It is a great opportunity to be a part of that and help grow the domestic practice here in Houston.”
McCormick will be a member of White & Case’s global tax practice group and work closely with its global M&A practice.
“It has been an active and exciting year due to tax reform coinciding with movement and activity in the energy sector, particularly the Texas oil and gas space,” he says. “It has been a fluid environment and I expect to see more of the same the rest of the year.”
