Dallas litigation boutique Estes Thorne & Carr announced this month that labor and employment expert Monica Narvaez has joined the women-owned firm as a partner from Cowles & Thompson.
After graduating from law school at Ohio State in 2003, Narvaez went to work for the Ohio Attorney General’s office as an assistant attorney general, where she defended state and county agencies in complex employment disputes. She later served as a human resources policy attorney for the State of Ohio where she wrote and advised on the rules and policies for governmental employees.
Before moving to Texas in 2013 to join The Underwood Law Firm in Fort Worth, Narvaez was the chief of labor relations for the Ohio Department of Health.
Narvaez advises clients in matters related to the Fair Labor Standards Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, OSHA, and Americans with Disabilities Act. She has represented clients before the Texas Workforce Commission, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, U.S. Department of Labor, National Labor Relations Board, state and federal courts, and other regulatory bodies.
In 2018, Narvaez was named one of the Top 50 Women Lawyers in Dallas by the Texas Diversity Council.
