Kansas City Law Firm Opens Houston Office

August 1, 2019 Brooks Igo

Spencer Fane kicked off August by announcing its continued expansion in Texas with a new office in Houston.

The Kansas City-based firm has combined with the 19-lawyer Houston law firm Zimmerman, Axelrad, Stern & Wise, P.C. Spencer Fane now has 43 attorneys across three offices in the state.

Alvin Zimmerman says several firms have approached his team about joining forces, but there wasn’t a good fit until the “incredible group” at Spencer Fane reached out earlier this year.

“We complemented each other. They want a presence in Texas and needed to be in Houston,” says Zimmerman, a former state district judge and assistant attorney general of Texas. “We liked the idea of having an extended platform with multiple offices. They have the same work ethic and commitment to client services that we do.”

Zimmerman adds that the 260-attorney Spencer Fane has plans to add “substantial” additional attorneys to the office.

The full roster of the 35-year-old full-service Zimmerman Axelrad that has joined Spencer Fane includes:

  • Carmellia Boyer
  • David Brininger
  • Rachel Hershkowitz Hopson
  • Albert Hiller
  • C. Birk Hutchens
  • Jeff Lin
  • William Morfey
  • Brian Poldrack
  • Nicholas Reisch
  • Neil Rosenstein
  • Gulmina Shah
  • Kasey Shivers
  • Irving Stern
  • Jon Tankersley
  • Jennifer Wilson
  • Mark E. Wise
  • Alvin Zimmerman
  • Brian Zimmerman
  • Gary Zimmerman
